Question : ASHRAM VIDYALAYAS

(a) The total number of Ashram Vidyalayas functioning across the country at present, State/UT-wise;

(b) The number of new Ashram Vidyalayas sanctioned during the last three years; State/UT-wise;

(c) The number of Ashram Vidyalayas to which financial aid has been discontinued or pending, State/UT-wise including Maharashtra along with the reasons therefor;

(d) Whether the Government is aware that the said Ashram Vidyalayas are still functioning despite discontinuation or pendency of the financial aid; and

(e) If so, the reaction of the Government thereto along with the corrective steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(c) to (e): While the Ministry of Tribal Affairs provides funds only for construction of Ashram Vidyalayas, the operation, maintenance and day to day functioning of the school is undertaken by the concerned State Government/UT Administration.
