Question : VIOLATION OF RULES BY PRIVATE INSTITUTIONS



(a) whether unaided schools and colleges are admitting 5 to 6 times more than their intake capacity without increasing faculty strength or academic infrastructure;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government has any mechanism to ensure that the private educational institutions adhere strictly to the stipulated rules;

(d) if so, the details thereof;

(e) the number of private institutions booked for violating the rules; and

(f) the action taken by the Government against such institutions?

(a) and (b): Such data in respect of unaided Schools and Colleges are not maintained by the Ministry. However, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has not received such specific complaints against its affiliated schools. The intake capacity of Colleges is determined by the concerned affiliating Universities and relevant statutory Council.

(c) and (d): CBSE issues circulars to its affiliated schools from time to time for adherence of Affiliation and Examinations Bye-Laws. University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued “Guidelines for Students Entitlement – 2012” to monitor intake capacity in Colleges/Universities.

(e) and (f): No such data is maintained by the Ministry.
