Question : PASSENGER LUGGAGE ARTICLES

(a) whether there is an increase in the number of passenger`s luggage/articles found at various domestic and international airports of the country during the last three years and the current year;

(b) if so, the details of the luggage/articles found at the airports during the said period alongwith their approximate value, airport-wise;

(c) whether these luggage/articles have been returned to the passengers and if so, the details thereof;

(d) whether there are some unclaimed articles which are still deposited with the airport authorities; and

(e) if so, whether these articles are likely to be sold in auction and if so, the details thereof?

(b) : The luggage / articles received as lost properties contains personal articles, perishables, used electronic items etc. thus the valuation of these articles is not available. Year-w ise details of luggage/ articles returned to the passengers are enclosed as Annexure.

(c) : Year-wise details of luggage/ articles returned to the passengers are at Annexure-I.

(d) & (e) : Information is being collected and w ill be laid on the Table of the House.
