(a) A high level Committee constituted by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE) has established that the fire originated from a short circuit inside the Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) located in the Adjacent room of Computer Aided Design (CAD) Centre.
(b) The fire destroyed computers and associated hardware, furniture, electrical fittings, air-conditioning, air ventilation system and the steel structure supporting the roof of the Central Design Office complex. The book value of the assets destroyed was about Rs. 1.5 crore. There was no loss of life.
(c) Necessary instructions already exist with regard to fire safety measures. A high level committee was constituted to establish the cause of the fire at Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. The company has been asked to take precautionary measures to avoid occurrence of such incidents in future.
