Question : SCHEMES FOR FISHERY SECTOR



(a) whether the Government has decided to review the existing schemes in the fishery sector;

(b) if so, the number and details of the schemes pertaining to the fishery sector;

(c) whether the Government proposes to revive diesel subsidy for the fishing boats;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) whether the Government is also considering utilization of solar technology for fishing boats and if so, the details thereof?

(a): Yes, Madam.

(b): The Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture

(c) implements the following seven schemes for fishery sector:

(i) Centrally Sponsored Scheme on Development of Marine Fisheries, Infrastructure and Post Harvest Operations,

(ii) Centrally Sponsored Scheme on Development of Inland Fisheries and Aquaculture,

(iii) Central Sector Scheme National Scheme of Welfare of Fishermen

(iv) Central Sector Scheme on Strengthening of Database and Geographical Information System (GIS) of the Fisheries Sector,

(v) Central Sector Scheme on National Fisheries Development Board(NFDB),

(vi) Scheme on Soft Loan Package for Replacement of Fishing Vessels,

(vii) Central Sector Scheme on Issuance of Biometric Identity Cards to Coastal Fishermen.

(c) and (d): The Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries is implementing a diesel subsidy scheme for BPL category.
