Question : Drug-Related Hospital Emergency Rooms

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government proposes establishment of more Drug-Related Hospital emergency rooms;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) whether the Government is considering increasing the number of affordable rehabilitation centres for the victims of drug abuse?

(a)&(b): There is no such proposal for establishment of more drug-related hospital emergency rooms in view of the ability of Government hospitals to manage the drug- related emergency.

(c): Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment under a Central Scheme of Assistance for Prevention of alcoholism and Substance (Drug) Abuse, has provision for financial assistance to eligible Non-Governmental Organizations, Panchyati Raj Institutions, Urban Local Bodies for running and maintenance of Integrated Rehabilitation Centres for Addicts (IRCAs).
