Question : Water Reactors in Co-operation with WEC

(a) whether projects proposals in AP for setting up of water reactors (LWRs) in co-operation with Westinghouse Electric Company (WEC) have been finalised and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether the Government has assessed the impact of WEC being acquired by Brookfield Business Partners on the said project including time and cost overrun, if any; and

(c) if so, the details thereof and the reaction of the Government thereto?

THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR PERSONNEL, PUBLIC GRIEVANCES & PENSIONS AND PRIME MINISTER’S OFFICE (DR.JITENDRA SINGH):

(a) No, Sir. Presently techno-commercial discussions to arrive at a project proposal for setting up nuclear power reactors in cooperation with M/s. Westinghouse Electric Company (WEC) are still in progress.

(b)&(c) The various issues emerging out of the acquisition of WEC have been factored in the discussions.
