(a) the year-wise and language-wise details of regional newspaper/magazines in the States and Union Territories during the last three years;
(b) whether the cases of newspapers/magazines being run illegally have come to the notice of the Government; and
(c) if so, the State/UT-wise details thereof along with the steps taken by the Government to stop it?

(a) : The language-wise, region-wise details of newspapers and periodicals, registered with Registrar of Newspapers for India (RNI), in various States/UTs are published annually in the form of a publication titled ‘Press in India’. This publication is available on the website of RNI (www.rni.nic.in).
(b) and (c) : Violations of the provisions of the Press and Registration of Books Act, 1867, as and when noticed, are handled as per the provisions of the Act.
