Question : EXPORT OF FOODGRAIN STOCK AS CATTLE FEED



(a) the All India Agricultural Workers Unin (AIAWU) has pointed out that while 40 million tonnes of foodgrains remained unsold in the FCI godowns and the Union Government are trying to export these stock as cattle-feed to create room to acquire surplus stocks;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the other steps taken to dispose of surplus stock of foodgrains in FCI godowns?

(c ): The steps taken to dispose are :


1)	Enhanced allocation of foodgrains for BPL families.
2)	Supply of foodgrains at BPL rates for various welfare schemes .
3)	Open sale of wheat at reduced prices.
4)	Reductions in Central Issue Prices for APL families.
5)	Export of wheat and rice.
6)	Free of cost allocation to drought affected states for employment generation programmes.
7)	The Antyodaya Anna Yojana Scheme has been launched to supply rice and wheat at Rs.3/-	and Rs.2/-per Kg respectively to the poorest of the poor families.
