(a) Presently, one centre of Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) is functioning in Aurangabad, Maharashtra which conducts diploma and vocational skilling courses in Plastics Technology. Besides, Government has approved setting up of two more centres of CIPET in Chandrapur and Mumbai in Maharashtra to undertake diploma courses and vocational training courses for plastics and allied industries during 2016-17 to 2018-19.
(b) According to an assessment conducted by the Government, around 11 lakh additional skilled and semi-skilled manpower including engineers and technicians are required during 2015 to 2024. In order to meet the requirement, 16 new centres of CIPET, in addition to existing 23 centres, have been approved and infrastructure of existing centres is upgraded. At the same time, skill courses of CIPET have been aligned with National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF), as per the National Policy on Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
(c) No proposal for setting up of a CIPET institute at Vardha, Maharashtra is under consideration of the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals.
