Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS (SHRI HARIBHAI PARATHIBHAI CHAUDHARY)

(a) to (e): The Government of Bangladesh has been extending full cooperation through pro-active action against Indian Insurgent Groups (IIG) based in Bangladesh, as a result of which, several top leaders were uprooted from there. During 2009-14, at least 17 top leaders of various IIGs operating from Bangladesh have been arrested and 8 leaders/cadres have surrendered. However, certain IIGs continue to take shelter and use the adjacent Bangladesh territories for anti- India activities like Meghalaya, Tripura and Assam based groups.

The intelligence agencies of both the countries have regularly been sharing information with respect to comps/hideouts and activities of IIGs including infiltration, names of prominent leaders, seizure of arms/ammunition and fake Indian currency notes, etc. The issue of presence of IIG camps/hideouts in Bangladesh is also regularly taken up at various bilateral fora.
