Question : Loss to NHAI Due to Farmers Protest

(a) whether the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has lost huge amount of money due to farmers’ protest in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof along with its direct impact on the performance of NHAI and its future projects; and

(c) the corrective steps taken by the Government to generate more revenues and to expedite the ongoing and future highway projects in the country?

(a) to (c) Due to farmers protest, some of the fee plazas are non-operational, thereby NHAI is unable to collect user fee from the road users. In case of public funded fee plazas, an estimated remittance loss is approximately 1.8 cr per day.
