Question : PRODUCTION OF BIO-FERTILIZER FROM BAGASSE

(a) whether the Indian Council of Agricultural Research have achieved success in producing organic manure from the bagasse;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the time likely to be taken in the process of conversion of bagasse in organic manure;

(d) the agriculture fields for which this organic manure would be useful;

(e) whether this manure will be used for sugarcane production;

(f) if so, the details thereof; and

(g) the total cost likely to be incurred on manuring thereof ?

(a) & (b): The Indian Council of Agricultural Research has not developed any specific composting technology for conversion of bagasse into manure. A maximum portion of the bagasse is being used by the sugarcane mills for their boilers; the remaining being used by other industries like paper mills etc.

(c) to (g): Does not arise.
