Question : Remunerative Price

(a) whether the Government is aware that corn is not being exported despite its good production in Bihar and other States and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether the farmers are not getting remunerative price for their produce and if so, the details of the same;

(c) whether the Government is taking or proposes to take any concrete steps in this regard; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a): Corn to the extent of 7.07 lakh MT in 2017-18 and 10.31 lakh MT in 2018-19 has been exported.

(b): The Minimum Support Price (MSP) of corn (maize) for Crop Year 2019-20 has been fixed at Rs. 1760 per quintal and the average wholesale price of corn in major markets of the country is higher than the MSP.

(c) & (d): To safeguard the interest of corn farmers, the Government announces Minimum Support Price of maize every year so that the farmers can get remunerative price of their produce. Further, export of corn/maize is free without any restriction.
