(a) to (c): The development of small scale industries is primarily the concern of respective State Governments/Union Territories. The Central Government supports and supplements the efforts of the State Governments/Union Territories through implementation of its various schemes and programmes. The details of the steps taken by the Central Government during the last three years to promote small scale industries in Orissa are given as under :-

For rehabilitation of SSI units in Orissa affected by super cyclone, Government has announced a rehabilitation package comprising of assistance from Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) amounting to Rs. 185.00 crore and from other agencies viz. Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) and Coir Board. A Kewra Project has also been sanctioned in December, 2000 for setting up at Behrampur, District Ganjam in Orissa under UPTECH Programme. In addition, the Government has also been providing assistance to SSI units in the country including those located in Orissa by providing collateral free loans upto Rs. 25.00 lakh under Credit Guarantee Scheme, reimbursement of expenses incurred for obtaining ISO-9000. Further, the Government continues its endeavour of providing policy and promotional support to SSI sector for strengthening its competitiveness globally and domestically through various initiatives including those announced under the Comprehensive Policy Package on 30.08.2000.
