Question : NORMS FOR LODGING FIR



(a) the norms laid down by the Delhi Police to lodge F.I.R.;

(b) whether the Delhi Police, particularly the South-West District Police strictly follow these norms;

(c) if not, the reasons therefor; and

(d) the number of such instances brought to the notice of the Government during the last one year?

(a): The provision relating to registration of FIR in respect of cognizable offences is contained in 154 Cr. PC which a police officer is bound to follow.

(b) to (d): Yes, Sir. However, there are stray cases in which the prescribed procedure was not followed by the police official concerned. During the last one year, 39 such cases came to the notice of Delhi Police, but none of these cases pertained to the South-West District.
