(b): In the absence of any authenticated data and information in respect of divorce rate/
number of cases of divorce, it is not possible to give any specific comments in the regard.
(c): By way of strengthening the institutional mechanism for settling family disputes,
including matters related to divorce, the Central Government has been encouraging the State
Governments to establish Family Courts in each district. The Central Government bears 50% of
the cost of construction of Family Court building and also the annual recurring cost of
running such a Family Court. So, far, 190 Family Courts have been established in the various
States. State Governments have been requested to set up Family Courts in each district.
