(a) whether the Government are considering to include Hepatitis A, B and C vaccines and Chicken Pox in the Universal Immunization Program (UIP);
(b) if so, the areas likey to be covered, State-wise; and
(c) the time by which it is likely to be extended to the entire country?

(a) to (c) Action for a pilot project for introduction of
Hepatitis-B vaccine in the Universal Immunisation Programme
in slums of 15 cities during (2002-2003) and 32 districts
(2003-2004) has been initiated. List of cities and
districts is annexed. Expansion of the Hepatitis -B
vaccination programme to additional areas will be considered
subsequently. There is no proposal to introduce Hepatitis
A&C and chickenpox vaccines in the Universal Immunisation
Programme.
