Question : ALLOTMENT OF LPG AGENCIES



(a): whether the various oil companies had invited applications from Ex-servicemen for the allotment of LPG agencies in the past few years;

(b): if so, whether no application was received in respect of some proposed LPG agencies;

(c): if so the facts in this regard;

(d): whether the Government propose to de-reserve such allotment of L.P.G. agencies in view of no response received from Ex-servicemen, and

(e): if so, the time by which a decision is likely to be taken in this regard?

(a)to(e): As per the existing policy, under the normal Selection procedure of advertisement of the locations and selection through the Dealer Selection Boards,8% dealerships/distributorships are reserved for `Defence` Category. There is no separate reservation for Ex-Servicemen. Applications are invited from time to time under this category. If response against the initial advertisement under Defence Category is not adequate, such locations are readvertised under the same category. If the response is again not adequate the location can be decategorised with the concurrence of Directorate General of Resettlement, Ministry of Defence.
