Question : Project for Renewal of Pilgrimages in Uttarakhand

(a) whether the Government has sanctioned any tourism related project for renewal/beautification of pilgrimages of Uttarakhand;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) the details of the funds sanctioned and utilized for this purpose; and
(d) the time by which the said work is likely to be completed?

(a) to (d): On the basis of the proposals received from the State Government of Uttarakhand, Ministry of Tourism has sanctioned following projects for renewal/beautification of pilgrimage centres in Uttarakhand:

i. “Integrated Development of Kedarnath” approved in 2015-16 under PRASHAD Scheme at the cost of Rs.34.78 Crore. An amount of Rs.27.83 Crore has been released so far.
ii. “Development of Infrastructure for Pilgrimage Facilitation in Badrinath Ji Dham” approved in 2018-19 under PRASHAD Scheme at the cost of Rs.39.24 Crore. An amount of Rs.11.77 Crore has been released so far.

iii. “Development of Circuit at Tehri-Chamba- Sarain around Tehri Lake” approved in 2015-16 as Eco Circuit under Swadesh Darshan Scheme at the cost of Rs.70.92 Crore. An amount of Rs.64.30 crore has been released so far.
iv. “Development of Kumaon Region – Katarmal –Jogeshwar-Baijnath-Devidhura” approved in 2016-17 as Heritage Circuit under Swadesh Darshan Scheme at the cost of Rs. 79.13 Crore. An amount of Rs.63.30 Crore has been released so far.

The projects mentioned above are at different stages of implementation.
