Question : Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund

(a) the production and export of marine and aquaculture products in the country during last three years and the current year, year-wise and State-wise;

(b) whether the Government has noticed the decline in employment opportunities of fishermen and allied workers, if so, the remedies likely to be taken by the Government;

(c) the amount sanctioned during the last three years to Maharashtra and Karnataka from Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF) through National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), National Cooperatives Development Corporation (NCDC) and all scheduled banks; and

(d) the details of financial assistance sanctioned for the development of new fishing harbours and fish landing centres in Maharashtra?

(a) The details of fish production and export of fish and fish products in the country during the last 3 years are as under:-

The state wise details of fish production are given in the Annexure.
(b) The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying is implementing a flagship scheme “Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY)” with highest ever investment of Rs. 20050 crore in the fisheries sector over a period of five years up to 2024-25 in all States/Union Territories. The scheme intends to address critical gaps in fish production and productivity, quality, technology, post-harvest infrastructure and management, modernisation and strengthening of value chain, traceability, enhancement of fisheries export, establishing a robust fisheries management framework and fishers’ welfare. PMMSY aims to generate 55 lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities along the value chain.
(c) Three proposals from Maharashtra and one proposal from Karnataka, received from private beneficiaries, involving a total project cost of Rs 1.37 crore have been sanctioned under Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF).
(d) During FY 2020-21, an amount of Rs 6.25 crore has been released for the on-going project of construction of fishing harbor at Anandwadi in Maharashtra.
