(a) whether most of the refresher courses conducted by University Grants Commission (UGC) for Sanskrit lecturers are conducted through english and hindi;

(b) if so. the details thereof and the reasons therefor; and

(c) the corrective steps taken/being taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) to (c): According to the information furnished by the University Grants Commission (UGC), financial assistance is provided by UGC to Academic Staff Colleges (ASC) located in Central and State Universities for conducting refresher courses and orientation programmes for faculty in different disciplines including Sanskrit. Such refresher courses for Sanskrit lecturers is conducted in Osmania University (Andhra Pradesh), Kurukshetra University (Haryana )5 Jai Narain Vyas University (Rajasthan), University of Allahabad and Banaras Hindu University (Uttar Pradesh) The refresher courses are conducted in a communication medium that is suitable for training to be imparted. Appropriate instructions are being issued by the Government to ensure that as far as possible, the medium of communication for conduct of refresher courses for Sanskrit lecturers should be in Sanskrit language.
