THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF URBAN DEVELOPMENT (SHRI SAUGATA ROY)
(a)&(b): Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small and Medium Towns (UIDSSMT) was launched in December, 2005 for providing financial assistance for infrastructure facilities in Small & Medium Towns except the cities those are covered under Urban Infrastructure and Governance (UIG) component of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission(JNNURM). Water Supply is one of the admissible components under UIDSSMT.
(c)&(d): State Level Sanctioning Committee(SLSC) of State of Jharkhand has recommended three water supply projects one each in Chas, Deoghar and Chaibasa towns at a cost of Rs. 33.24 , Rs. 47.38 and Rs. 32.18 crore, involving central commitment of Rs. 27.09 , Rs. 38.61 and Rs. 25.74 crore respectively. An amount of first installment
of Additional Central Assistance of Rs. 13.80 and Rs. 19.66 crore for Chas and Deoghar towns has already been released to the State. In respect of the project of Chaibasa town, which was approved by the SLSC on 25.03.2011, the State Government has to submit the required memorandum of agreement (MOA) committing timelines for implementation of Urban Sector Reforms and the budgetary provision for the year 2011-12 towards matching State Share.
(e): As per Scheme guidelines all cities/towns of the State of Jharkhand as per census-2001 excepting the cities namely Ranchi, Dhanbad and Jamshedpur (Urban Agglomeration excluding Tata lease area) which are covered under UIG component of JNNURM, are eligible under the Scheme.
