(a) The States of Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Madhya Pradesh have emerged as potential States for wind power generation on the basis of wind resource assessment studies carried out so far. A wind power capacity of 1183 MW has been installed as against 23816 MW, 70186 MW and 2680 MW of Hydro, Thermal and Nuclear capacity respectively.
(b) The levelised cost of wind power generation is quite comparable with conventional power, taking into account various fiscal and promotional incentives available for wind power projects.
(c) A Statement on State-wise installed capacity of Non Conventional Energy Power Projects in public and private sector, is given in the Annexure.
(d) The target for power generation from NCES for the 9th Plan is 1685 MW. The target for the next Plan period is yet to be finalised.
