Question : Population of Tribal People

(a) the total population of tribal people in the country along with the community-wise details thereof;
(b) the percentage of tribal population in Rajasthan as compared to the total population of the State; and
(c) the details of the amount of the funds sanctioned and spent for providing facilities to the tribal people in the said State out of the total budgetary provision during the last three years?

Answer given by the minister

(a) The population of Scheduled Tribes (STs) in the country, as per census 2011 is 10.45 crore. State / UT wise details of major Scheduled Tribe communities as per Census 2011 are given at Annexure – I.

(b) The percentage of Scheduled Tribes (STs) in Rajasthan as compared to the total population of the State is 13.5.

(c) The scheme-wise funds released to the State of Rajasthan by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs for the development of tribal people, utilisation certificates submitted by the State and the total budgetary provisions made under these schemes during the last three years are given at Annexure – II and Annexure – III respectively.
