(a) to (c): Government of India launched the Smart Cities Mission (SCM) on 25 June 2015. 100 Smart cities have been selected through 4 rounds of competition from January 2016 to June 2018. The implementation of SCM at the City level is done by a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) created for the purpose. As per SCM Statement and Guidelines, a Smart City Advisory Forum (SCAF) is to be established at the city level to advise and enable collaboration among various stakeholders. It consists of District Collector, Member of Parliament, Member of Legislative Assembly, Mayor, local youth, technical experts, and other stakeholders. All 100 Smart Cities, including Coimbatore Smart City in Tamil Nadu, have established their SCAFs. As on December 2021, more than 580 SCAF meetings have been convened by 100 Smart Cities. 10 meetings have been convened by Coimbatore Smart City.
(d) & (e): As on 21 January 2022, these Smart Cities have tendered out 6,721 projects worth ? 1,88,507 crore; out of which work orders have been issued in 6,124 projects worth ? 1,62,908 crore; out of these, 3,421 projects worth ? 58,735 crore have been completed. The period of implementation of SCM has been extended upto June 2023 and all Smart Cities, including Coimbatore Smart City, are expected to complete their projects within the stipulated time. The status of Smart City projects of Coimbatore is given below:
