Question : Capital Procurement for Defence

(a) whether the Government has recently given approval of Capital Procurement for the Defence forces amounting to over Rs. 3300 crores of indigenously designed and developed equipment to promote the Make in India Initiative; and

(b) if so, a broad break up of the sectors for which the amount is earmarked?

Answer given by the minister

(a) to (b): The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) has given approval of Capital Procurement for the Defence Forces amounting to over Rs.3300 crores of indigenously designed, developed and manufactured equipment to maintain the impetus on “Make in India” Initiative. The three projects are the Third Generation ATGM, Auxiliary Power Units for T-72 and T-90 Tanks and Electronic Warfare (EW) systems for mountain and High Altitude terrain.
