Question : NATIONAL DATABASE ON MINORITY CATEGORIES



(a) whether any database in respect of socially and economically backward section amongst the minority communities exists in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) if not, whether Government proposes to prepare a database to identify such categories;

(d) if so, the details thereof including the criteria for such identification; and

(e) the total expenditure likely to be incurred in this regard?

(a) & (b) Database at national level in respect of socially and economically backward section amongst the minority communities is not available in the country. However, a National Data Bank for Socio-Religious Categories with available reports from National Sample Surveys, Population Censuses etc. has been created in the Ministry’s website (mospi.gov.in).

(c) to (e) The Government has no proposal at present to prepare a database in respect of socially and economically backward section amongst the minority communities.
