Question : Consolidation of Banks

(a) whether the Government has identify six to ten Public Sector Banks which will drive the consolidation process among the state owned banks;

(b) whether the Government expected to identify state run banks by October 31, 2016;

(c) whether the Government has set up an expert panel for the consolidation process; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (d): In second edition of two days Bankers’ retreat ‘Gyan Sangam 2.0’ it was recommended by the expert group on Mergers & Acquisitions that an Expert Group be constituted to look into all the issues relating to consolidation of banks.
