Question : LPG Consumers

(a) whether the total number of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) consumer is in increasing trend;

(b) if so, the details thereof during the last four years and the current year including the total number of consumers, year and oil company-wise;

(c) the details of number of free connections issued to the women beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY); and

(d) the details of income from such free connections by replacing/purchasing cylinder since the inception of the yojana?

(a) & (b) Yes, Sir. Oil Marketing Companies(OMCs)-wise details of domestic LPG consumers in the country during the last four years and current year are as under :-

(c) & (d) Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) was launched in 2016 to provide deposit free LPG connections to women members of poor households and the target to provide 8 crore LPG connections under the Scheme was achieved in 2019. Further, under Phase-II of PMUY (Ujjwala 2.0), in addition to deposit free LPG connections, all PMUY beneficiaries are provided free first refill and stove as well. As on 01.07.2022, OMCs have released 1.35 crore LPG connections under Ujjwala 2.0. Further, Government has announced subsidy of Rs. 200/- per 14.2 Kg refill upto 12 refills/year to PMUY beneficiaries for year 2022-2023. OMCs have delivered 116.9 crore refills (other than installation refill) to PMUY beneficiaries till 30.06.2022 since inception of the PMUY Scheme.
