Question : Doctor of Pharmacy

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether the degree holders of doctor of pharmacy (Pharma D) are eligible for undertaking clinical trials/clinical research/organized clinical trials in the numerous Government funded Medical and Pharmaceutical institutions with state-ofart facilities and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether such degree holders are also eligible for taking up the job opportunities in the field of clinical trials in private/corporate/autonomous institutions;

(c) if so whether, any official notification has been issued in this regard and if so, the complete details thereof; and

(d) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (d): Clinical trials are carried out by a team. Delegation of duties and responsibilities are as per their qualification, training and experience. All members of the team have to have received training in Good Clinical Practice (GCP). A medically qualified person can take responsibility of medical care as per MCI guidelines. Pharmacist depending on his specialization e.g. clinical pharmacy can take responsibility as per the Pharmacy Council of India guidelines.
