Question : FIDAYEEN ATACK ON SECURITY INSTALLATIONS



(a) whether Fidayeen attacks on security installations and convoys are on the increase now a days;

(b) if so, the details of such attacks during 2004 with the casualties;

(c) whether the Government is aware that hardcore militants from Pakistan and Bangladesh have sneaked into India recently to carry out subversive activities;

(d) if so, the details thereof;

(e) whether such hardcore militants have plans to undertake `Fidayeen Attacks` at public places and also on VIPs; and

(f) if so, the steps taken by the Government to counter such activities of militants?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (A) TO (E) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO.13 FOR 1.3.2005 BY SHRI MOHAN RAWALE REGARDING FIDAYEEN ATTACK ON SECURITY INSTALLATIONS.

(a)&(b): No Sir. Fidayeen attacks on security installations and convoys by the militants have been observed mainly in the State of Jammu and Kashmir. The details given below indicate that such incidents are on the decline in the State.

(c) to (e): Intelligence inputs regarding infiltration of militants from Pakistan and Bangladesh with plans to carry out Fidayeen attack on security force camps, vital installations, VIPs etc. have been received from time to time.

(f): Security of vulnerable places and of targeted VIPs is increased in view of the changed threat perception. Advisories are also issued to the concerned State Govt./UTs and concerned organization to increase vigil and security arrangements.
