(a) whether the Government has sanctioned any funds for the development of ports and port infrastructure in Tamil Nadu;
(b) if so, the details of the funds allocated in the last five years, year-wise, port-wise; and
(c) the steps taken by the Government to curb the monopoly of private players in Port?
(a) &(b) The Government of India has sanctioned projects for various ports in State of Tamil Nadu under its Sagarmala Programme. The details are in Annexure.
(c) The Major Ports of India are regulated under Major Ports Authority Act, 1963. However, non-major Ports and their concessionaires are regulated by Sate Maritime Boards under respective State Governments. The Sate Maritime Boards are also regulated under Indian Ports Act, 1908.
