Question : CONSTRUCTION OF SANCTIONED RAILWAY LINES



(a) whether the Railways have been implementing the project of construction of already sanctioned Railway lines in the State of Andhra Pradesh;

(b) if so, details thereof along with the status of Nadikudi- Srikalahasti new railway line;

(c) whether any funds have been allocated for the said rail line and if so, details thereof; and

(d) the time by which it is likely to be completed?

(a) to (c): Yes Madam. 16 new line projects and four doubling projects falling partly/ fully in the State of Andhra Pradesh have been taken up for execution. Further, nine more doubling projects have been included in the Railway Budget 2015-16 subject to obtaining of requisite clearances.

As regards Nadikudi - Srikalahasti New Line project, the same has been taken up at an anticipated cost of `1313 crore with proposed allocation of `110 crore for the year 2015-16. The State Government of Andhra Pradesh has agreed to provide land free of cost and to share 50% of construction cost. Land plans for 35 kms length have been submitted to State Government for acquisition.

(d): Time for completion cannot be fixed in the absence of availability of entire land.
