In order to promote the use of electric and hybrid vehicles in the country, the Ministry of Heavy Industries have formulated a Scheme for Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid & Electric Vehicles in India (FAME India) Scheme in 2015. At present, Phase-II of FAME India Scheme is being implemented for a period of 5 years commencing from 1st April, 2019 with a total budgetary support of ?10,000 crores for supporting electrification of public & shared transportation, whichprovides subsidy for 7,090 e-Buses, 5,00,000 e-3 Wheelers, 55,000 e-4 Wheeler Passenger Cars and 10,00,000 e-2 Wheelers.
