Question : Ultra Light Howitzers

(a) whether any of the 145 M777 ultra-light howitzers are to be made / manufactured / assembled in the country under the ‘Make in India Programme’;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether 155 mm Dhanush and Dhanush-2 artillery guns are also to be deployed by the Indian Army and if so, the details thereof;

(d) whether the Bhim self-propelled artillery guns have been cleared for production and if so, the details thereof; and

(e) whether the K-9 Vajra T 155 mm artillery guns have also been cleared for deployment in the Indian Army and if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): Under the terms of the Letter of Offer and Acceptance (LOA) signed with the US Government for supply of 145 ULH, 25 guns will be inducted in Fully Formed condition and the balance 120 guns will be assembled in India.

(c) Government has placed an indent on Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) for procurement of Qty. 114 155-MM Dhanush artillery guns.

(d) No, Madam.

(e) Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) has accorded Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for procurement of integrated Tracked Self Propelled (SP) 155mm artillery guns on 26.02.2008.
