(a) whether the Government has any proposal to grant compensation to the fishermen of Union Territory of Lakshadweep;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the details of the funds which have been sanctioned and allocated by the Government in this regard?

(a) & (b). No such proposal regarding grant of compensation to the fishermen of Union Territory (UT) of Lakshadweep is received and under consideration in the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare at present. However, this Department is implementing the Central Plan Scheme on ‘Blue Revolution: Integrated Development and Management of Fisheries’ with ‘National Scheme of Welfare of Fishermen’ as one of the components. Under this financial assistance is provided to fishers during the lean fishing season/fishing ban period, insurance coverage and also for construction of houses and creation of other basic amenities such as drinking water facility & community halls. Besides, assistance for fisheries development activities in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep is also provided.
(c) Details of the funds released to the Union Territory of Lakshadweep for development of fisheries based on the proposals received from them under the Blue Revolution scheme from this department are given below.
