Question : REPAIR OF RAIL TRACK

to the reply given to Unstarred Question No.443 on December 02, 2004 and state:

(a) the amount spent on the repair work of Jhansi-Banda-Manikpur and Banda to Kanpur rail track during the last three years, year-wise;

(b) the speed of trains (per KM per hour) running on this track at present;

(c) whether the rail track of Jhansi-Banda-Manikpur and Banda-Kanpur is considered to the worst rail track in the country;

(d) if so, whether the Government are contemplating any plan to develop Bundelkhand rail track;

(e) if so, the details thereof; and

(f) if not, the reasons therefor?

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS ( SHRI R. VELU )

(a): Information is being collected and will be laid on the Table of the Sabha.

(b): The maximum permissible speed of the section is 100 km per hour as per the route classification.

(c): No, Sir.

(d) to (f): Repair and maintenance of railway track in all section, is an on-going activity. For ensuring safety of traffic, track is inspected regularly and corrective maintenance action taken promptly wherever required. Track renewals are also undertaken depending upon the need subject to availability of funds.
