Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government proposes to make all CGHS hospitals particularly one in Begumpet, Hyderabad operate round-the-clock on the lines of CGHS hospitals in Delhi; and
(b) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) & (b): Presently there is no proposal to convert the CGHS Poly Clinic Cum Wellness Centre, Begumpet Hyderabad, to a full-fledged CGHS Hospital and make it operational round the clock due to the following reasons:
(i) The attendance of CGHS beneficiaries after the OPD hours is miniscule.
(ii) Government has already empanelled private hospitals under CGHS in Hyderabad which provide round the clock services during medical emergency. Beneficiaries can directly go to any of the private empanelled/private non-empanelled/government hospitals under medical emergency without any permission.
(iii) There is acute shortage of manpower under CGHS and the same is better utilized for regular OPD hours.
