(a) whether the Government of Singapore has expressed its keenness to establish better ties with India; and

(a) & (b): During the Prime Minister`s official visit to Singapore in April, 2002, India and Singapore agreed to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries by setting up a Joint Study Group to explore the feasibility of entering into a Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA). The Joint Study Group has had four meetings and is expected to submit its report in April, 2003. Thereafter the actual negotiations on the CECA are expected to begin.
