(a) Yes, Sir. DRDO has provided three COVID Hospitals. The details of DRDO developed Hospitals are:
• Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Covid Hospital, Delhi Cantt. with 1000 bed capacity.
• PM CARES Covid Care Hospital, Patna, Bihar with 500 bed capacity.
• PM CARES Covid Care Hospital, Muzaffarpur, Bihar with 500 bed capacity.
(b) The actions taken by the Government are as under:
In the wake of Covid-19 pandemic, rather than development of any COVID hospital infrastructure, provisions have been made under the PM Aatma Nirbhar Swasth Bharat initiative (with an outlay of about Rs.64,180 Crore over 6 years) for increased investments in public health and other holistic health reforms to prepare India for future pandemics. The initiative provides for developing capacities of primary, secondary and tertiary care health systems, strengthen existing national institutions, and create new institutions, to cater to detection and cure of new and emerging diseases. This includes provision for treatment for infectious diseases by establishing critical care hospital blocks in 602 districts and 12 central institutions.
(c) The details of amount so far invested by the Government in preparing COVID hospitals are given below:
• During the FY 2019-20, Rs.1113.21 Crores was released to the States/UTs under NHM towards management and containment of COVID-19 pandemic. The COVID-19 Emergency Response and Health Systems Preparedness Package, a central sector scheme, is co-financed by the World Bank, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and Asian Development Bank.
• During the FY 2020-21, Rs. 6309.90 Crores has been released to the States/UTs towards the India Covid-19 Emergency Response and Health System Preparedness Package, through Agency-National Health Mission (NHM).
