(a) State-wise allocation of funds for the years 1999-2000, 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 for implementation of Balika Samriddhi Yojana is Annexed. The funds released to the State Government of Bihar during these years, are as under:

(b)&(c) The Scheme of Balika Samriddhi Yojana was launched in the country on 2nd October, 1997. The scheme covers upto two girl children born on or after 15th August, 1997 in a family living below the poverty line. At present, only one component of the scheme i.e. the post-birth grant, is under implementation. The girl child born on 15th August, 1997 would start going to school w.e.f. August, 2003 on attaining the age of six years and hence the scholarship benefit will be applicable from 15th August, 2003 onwards.
