Question : FOOD FOR WORK PROGRAMME



(a) whether some States have requested for increased quota of foodgrains under the `Food for Work` programme for the poor families;

(b) if so, the details thereof, State-wise;

(c) whether the Union Government have enhanced the quota for poor families

(d) if so, the details thereof, State-wise and

(e) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a)&(b): The States Governments of Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan & Madhya Pradesh requested for raising the limit from 5 kg to 10 kg of foodgrains as part of wages per man day under the Food for Work Programme.

(c),(d)&(e): The request of the State Governments was not agreed to so that maximum workers could avail of benefit of the Programme in areas affected by calamities.
