(a) whether the Army has recruited several militants who had surrendered;
(b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor;
(c) whether these surrendered militants have been recruited on the basis of
competitive examinations; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): No, Sir. Militants have not been recruited in the regular Army.
However, some militants who volunteered or surrendered have been recruited in one
Battalion of Territorial Army which is not a regular Army unit.
(c) & (d): The recruitment was through competitive examinations including
physical tests and medical examinations.
