Question : Nursing Schools and Colleges

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government maintains any statistics regarding number of Nursing Schools and Colleges functioning in the country;

(b) if so, the details of number of Nursing Schools and Colleges functioning in the country during the last five years, year and State/UT-wise;

(c) whether the Government has statistics regarding number of students undergoing Nursing Education, if so, the details thereof;

(d) whether the Government has noticed that the number of students undergoing nursing education is decreasing; and

(e) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor?

(a) & (b): Yes. The number of Nursing Schools and Colleges functioning in the country during the last five years is at Annexure.

(c) to (e): No such data is maintained Centrally but the total annual intake capacity is around 2.26 lakhs.
