Question : Kendriya Vidyalayas in Backward Districts

(a) the details of districts in the country particularly in Maharashtra having no Kendriya Vidyalayas;
(b) whether the Government proposes to take any measure to set up Kendriya Vidyalaya on priority basis in such backward districts particularly of Maharashtra including Buldhana;
(c) if so, the details thereof;
(d) whether the Government has received a proposal of setting up Kendriya Vidyalaya in backward district of Buldhana of Maharashtra;
(e) if so, the details thereof; and
(f) the action taken / to be taken by the Government in this regard, so far?

(a) Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has informed that at present, there are 59 Kendriya Vidyalayas functioning in 20 districts of the State of Maharashtra. Districts-wise details are annexed.
(b) & (c) Opening of Kendriya Vidyalayas is a continuous process. Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) are opened primarily to cater to the educational needs of the wards of transferable Central Government Employees including Defence & Para-Military personnel, Central Autonomous Bodies, Central Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and Central Institute of Higher Learning (IHL) by providing a common programme of education. Proposals for opening of new KVs are considered only if sponsored by Ministries or Departments of the Government of India / State Governments / Union Territories (UTs) Administrations and committing resources for setting up a new KV. The proposals received from various sponsoring authorities for opening of new KVs have to compete with other proposals under the “Challenge Method”.
(d) KVS has informed that no proposal in the prescribed proforma has been received for opening of a new KV in Buldhana district of Maharashtra.
(e) & (f) Do not arise.
