Question : Cost of Energy Generated through Renewable Resources

(a) the prevailing tariff rates of solar, wind, tidal and nuclear energy as compared to the rates of energy produced through the thermal and gas power plants;

(b) the expenditure incurred on buying solar cells, wind turbines and atomic plant equipments from other countries during the last three years;

(c) whether the Government proposes to undertake cent per cent indigenous manufacturing of solar cells, wind turbines and atomic plant equipments; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a): The prevailing tariff rates of solar, wind and nuclear energies along with thermal (coal) and gas power plants are given in the table at Annexure-I. Tidal power plants do not existing in India.
(b): The power projects with solar and wind powers are taken up with private sector investment and, therefore, the Government is not involved in incurring expenditure on buying solar cells and wind turbines. However, as per the Ministry of Commerce (website), the import value of solar and wind for the last 3 years is given at Annexure-II. Inputs regarding atomic plant equipments were requested from Department of Atomic Energy, which have not been provided so far. They are in process of collecting it from Nuclear Power Corporation Ltd.
(c)&(d): Regarding solar and wind, No Madam. Regarding Atomic Energy, information is awaited.
