Question : Modernisation-Upgradation of Airports

(a) the details of construction/modernisation/upgradation work of airports undertaken by the Government during the last three years and the current year, State/UT and year-wise;

(b) the details of various proposals received from States/UTs for construction/modernisation of airports and sanctioned during the above period, State/UT and yearwise;

(c) the funds allocated, released and spent on above projects during the said period, State/UT and year-wise;

(d) the estimated funds likely to be spent on construction/modernisation of airports during the next financial year;

(e) the status of completion of work on various airport projects; and

(f) the measures taken by the Government to expedite the work?

(a): The details of construction/modernisation/upgradation work of airports undertaken by Airports Authority of India (AAI) during the last three years and the current year, State/UT and year-wise are at Annexure-I;

(b): The details of various proposals received from States/UTs for construction and modernisation of airports and sanctioned in last three years are at Annexure-II and Annexure-III respectively.;

(c) & (d): The funds allocated, released and spent on above projects during the said period and the estimated funds likely to be spent on construction/modernisation of airports during the next financial year, State/UT and year-wise are at Annexure-IV.;

(e) & (f): Modernisation and upgradation work at airports is a continuous process which is undertaken by the concerned airport operator from time to time depending upon the availability of land, grant of mandatory clearances, demand from airlines, passenger traffic forecast, technical feasibility, commercial viability, etc. AAI follows the measures such as close liaising with the authorities concerned and close monitoring through weekly review status for speedy completion of the work at airports. ;
