Question : Multi-modal Logistics Parks

(a) whether the Government has prepared a road map for setting up 15 multi-modal logistics parks around major cities which have a share of about forty per cent of country''s freight movement by road;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the estimated investment for this project;

(d) whether the World Bank will also fund this project, if so, the details thereof;

(e) whether the Government has identified the cities which will be major transport nodes for this project in the first phase, if so, the details thereof; and

(f) the other steps taken by the Government for smooth movement of goods?

(a) to (f) : Under the World Bank Technical Assistance program, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has initiated a study called ‘Logistics Efficiency Enhancement Program (LEEP) and Voluntary Vehicle Fleet Modernization Program (V-VMP)’. The scope of this study includes identification of locations for multi-modal logistics parks along the logistics/ economic corridors across the country. Currently the study is in progress.
