MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT
(SHRI RAM KRIPAL YADAV)

(a) & (b): Ministry is undertaking an initiative called Project for Livelihoods in Full Employment (LIFE) under MGNREGA, which aims at promoting self-reliance and improving the skill-base of the MGNREGA workers, thereby improving their livelihoods so that they can move from their current partial employment to full employment status. The project, inter-alia, provides for convergence with Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) for imparting placement linked skilling courses to members of MGNREGA households who have completed at least 15 days of work under MGNREGA in the financial year 2014-15, 2015-16 or 2016-17. Youth in the age group of 18-35 are covered under the programme. For women, Primitive Tribal groups, SCs/STs, Transgender, persons with disabilities and other special groups, the upper age limit is 45 years. Under this initiative a total of 18408 trainees have been skilled so far.

(c) & (d): DDU-GKY has an annual target of skilling 2 lakhs candidates for wage employment.
